I bought this after reading Brixton Beach - a good book which proved unsatisfactory towards the end. However, Roma Tearne's short stories are quite something else. Beautifully written, incredibly moving and providing a fantastic snapshot of the lives of those affected by conflict. I hope she writes many more.

I always feel for Roma Tearne's characters and those featured in her short stories are no less developed and believable than in her novels. From first sight you feel with them. A wonderful collection of stories that resonate with the turmoil of loss, identity and a sense of home whatever and wherever that may be
