Maybe this movie was hot stuff back in the 1980s. I don't know because I missed it then.. or maybe I saw it and forgot about it, because that is what it is best described as: ultimately forgetable.
As a sorority initiation prank, some annoying American teenagers decide to have a girl locked up in a mausoleum at night while they dress up in Halloween masks, sneak inside and scare her. The local Satanist had recently passed away and was interred in the mausoleum that very afternoon. To quote Bryan Ferry: "Dim the lights, You can guess the rest!"
Cheap production values, a waste of Adam "Batman" West in a small role that makes one think he need the exposure and/or the money, and some truly lamentable papier-māché zombies... not a scare in the whole miserable mess. I found the movie amateurish and an insult to one's intelligence, but I stuck with it.
The second disc in this set offers an alternate cut of the film but the picture quality is so abyssmal that I couldn't watch it. To sum up: "One Dark Night" is tedious, drive-in drivel... made even more annoying by the presence of obnoxious American teenagers. Will I never learn??
