Not Pleasing 10 Nov 2001

Format:Mass Market Paperback
I thought when I bought this book that I would find out something interesting about Kitiara, who was always a little mysterious in the chronicles, instead I got a boring story of kitiara running round in the countryside that was really badly written and didnt tie-in with the other dragonlance books I had read. Obviously Tina Daniell didnt bother reading all the other books about the characters that she was going to write a book about. In the end though you find that Kitiara was a boring little girl until about the last 5 pages which would have been an exciting story if it hadnt been a summary of what she got up to after the story in the novel. Raistlin and Caramon are really badly portrayed within the story and it totally contradicts other books as with Raistlin going to mage school. A waste of a good story. If you are interested in Kitiara. You had better hope somebody with better idea of Kit decides to write a novel on her as this is not worth the money.

Dark Heart (Dragonlance Saga - The Meetings Sextet, Volume Three)
Kitiara is one of the most interessting and mysterious vilains or anti-heroes in the cronicles, and you can help but wonder how she became a dragon high lord. I thought this book would give some answers, but instead I got a long boring story about a little girl who looks after her sick mother and practice alone with her wooden sword.

Kitiara has an extraordinary career path, but Tina Daniell degrades her by making her into an ordinary peasant surrugate mother to Raislin and Caramon. If you are a fan of Kitiara don't ever read this book, you hang on hoping it will improve, even when it hits the lowest point where she fights a giant jellyfish and two eels.

After reading a negative review, I felt I owed it to Kitiara ( and Tina Danielle ) to give my views on this title.
This was one of the first books I read after the Chronicles, Legends and Tales series, the meat and bone of the Dragonlance saga. I found it to be well written, with a strong focus on Kitiara and never got boring or hazy as do a number of third party authored Dragonlance books. With regards to Raistlins past being contradictory, at this stage of the story if you read the books in order it tells of what Caramon and Raistlin did in their early years. The Soulforge ( Raistlin's biography ) was written a decade or so after this book. Although the twins are not the main characters in this novel, and the story surrounding Kitiara is an involved and fun one, though showing her courting with evil and how she became to serve Takhisis ( if she really does ). Good book, and one of the best of The Meetings Sextet.
