Product Description

There is always a price to pay - so Darius warned her when she accepted a position with his traveling troupe. And gazing mesmerized at the merciless slash of his mouth, the implacable resolve on his face, the soulless emptiness of his black eyes, Tempest was afraid to ask what it was.

She had always been different, apart from the others. From the moment his arms closed around her, enveloping her in a sorcerer's spell, Darius seemed to understand her unique gifts. But did his kiss offer the love and belonging she sought, or a danger more potent than his own panthers?

Somewhere deep inside herself, Tempest realized she knew the answer. She had no choice but to accept the velvet stroke of his tongue, submit to the white-hot heat piercing her skin, welcome an erotic pleasure like no other.

Yum! 5 Oct 2001

Format:Mass Market Paperback
The sixth book in this ongoing saga is about Gregori's (Dark Magic) lost brother Darius. As is with their line, Darius, though without the guidance of the ancients still manage to acquire skills and keeps their group together. Therefore, as the leader of their group, he is masterful and law unto himself. Along comes Tempest, who is sweet natured, has an affinity with animals and is not intimidated by Darius. On top of that, she does as she pleases, ignoring Darius whenever she feels he is overbearing. It is beautiful the way Darius cares for Tempest and the sacrifices he is willing to make for her. This is definitely a keeper!!!

Who would not love her books. We actually have strong heroines that don't make you want to rattle their teeth. The Heros are like chocolates to a chocaholic ......yummy. And the steam that rises of the pages....ummmmmm....!!

I am not reviewing the book, (I loved it gimme more!!) because I think first time "Christine Feehan" readers should read it for themselves, but if you love gripping stories, sensuous love scenes, developed characters and not sleeping at night because you always want to read one more chapter Christine is the Author for you.

Christine writes stories that makes me realise why I love romances. I bought the first book by chance (January this year) and fell instantly in love with the DARK series. I now have every book she has written to date and have even pre-ordered her next book in the series DARK LEGEND for Next year. There are six books out to date, and also short story in the series.

I only have one compliant the the stories are too short (even if they are over 350 pages long).

Thank you Christine. Keep the Dark Men coming.....

Not bad 13 Sep 2010
Format:Paperback
This is the 6th in the Dark series and it was pretty much the same as the others have been. If you have loved the previous Dark books then this will not disappoint.
Personally this series is not a favourite and i continue reading purely because I bought most of them after enjoying Dark Prince and Dark Desire. Since these my interest has unfortunately dwindled and this book hasn't reignited it. The storyline is good and there are plenty of characters around to add some variety but somehow this series doesn't quite do it for me. Lots of good things are there but no spark. I find myself disliking pretty much all the males of the series so far and the women aren't much better. The men are far too arrogant for my taste and the women well... (they need a slap). As usual the man (Darius) spends the whole novel dictating to the woman (Tempest) who fights it (sort of) for a while but then gives in cos he's soo gorgeous blah blah. I don't get it.
For me the books have too much description and not enough going on. The characters spend most of their time thinking about their feelings for the other (yawn). Too many slushy endearments and after 6 books I can't stand the phrase "I can do no other...(insert - ensure your happiness, safety, health etc). Also all the women seem to look exactly the same but with different hair - narrow ribcage, tiny waist, full breasts etc and I seriously want one with a bit more personality (they are the same again - little, gentle, wouldn't hurt a fly, feel bad about predator mate killing the people trying to slaughter them all. boring. Give one of them a spine will you.
I did like the sub-plot with Barack and Syndil from the last book but it was wrapped up too quickly overall. This was the best part of dark challenge for me and it ended rather suddenly. Plus Syndil seemed grow a spine and see that all the men were arrogant pigs and then it was just over and she accepted it which was a bit naff.

Don't let my review put you off if you are an ardent Dark fan. From the other reviews I see im in the minority here but in the off chance someone agrees i would recommend Jr ward or Sherrilyn Kenyon and many more before this series. If you take anything from this review it should be don't buy loads of them in one go.
