This is a slightly longer novel by Lynne Graham after writing many enjoyable, albeit rather short Mills & Boon novels. The hero in this story, the 'Dark Angel' is Luciano de Valenza, a business man and troubleshooter for Linwoods, a failing wine business who finds himself convicted of ebezzelment. After spending five years wrongly imprisoned, his conviction is ruled unsafe, but he has still to clear his name and find out who set him up. High up on the list are members of the Linwood family. To complicate matters, he was engaged to Kerry Linwood, but just before he was arrested, she broke off the engagement, though he is not sure why. Now Luciano is free, he is out for revenge, starting with Kerry, only he begins to wonder if he can go along with his plans... This novel has all the trappings of a good Lynne Graham novel - a rich, handsome and somewhat brooding/moody hero (!) , a disillusioned heroine that needs her hero to convice her that he REALLY loves her because she loves him, exotic locations, a wicked step sister, an interfering PA, eccentric grandparents and lots of romance. Added to this, there is a family reunion and for those who are interested, this book concludes the connected series of M&B novels, An Arabian Marriage, The Disobedient Mistress and The Heiress Bride, where the main characters from these books make several appearences and are somewhat instrumental in driving the plot along. Because it is longer than your normal M&B novel, this book is able add further dimension to the characters of the Luciano and Kerry and plot driving the book to its eventual conclusion is more paced out and detailled, though the identity of the real culprit of the embezzelment was pretty easy to figure out early on, but hey, this is a ROMANCE and not a mystery and its the sort of brain candy for a slow weekend.
