If you cherish irony; if you think sarcasm is funny sometimes; if you're intrigued by the idea of life viewed through the eyes of an American high-schooler who has seen through the delusion called the American Dream; if you enjoy comedies like 30 Rock; if you want to see the triumph of the unattractive brain over the jocks and bimboes (or at least, her triumph in coping with an environment where those groups are socially dominant); then you'll love Daria.
A spin off from Beavis and Butthead, this five-series animated sitcom (with two movie-length episodes too) proved that somewhere in the USA -- curiously enough in MTV's animation department -- there were still writers and producers willing to include some gags that not everyone would get. The rest of the world's view that "Americans don't get irony" needed revising when Daria hit the screens.
I could go on, but you might it more useful for me to link to the
Region One release (right-click and open in a new window or tab if you want to keep your place here), so you can read the reviews there.
I'm going to buy this as soon as it's released: and I already own the Region One set!
