Product Description

Sculpted and defined. Slim and toned. Perfect posture.

What does Darcey Bussell do to maintain her fabulous body? Ballet, unlike other forms of exercise, does not bulk the body up, but rather defines and sculpts it. In this beautifully illustrated book, Darcey Bussell, one of the world's leading ballerinas, shows how you too can develop the figure of a dancer. Combining Pilates, Floor Barre and stretching, this is Darcey's daily exercise programme that keeps her in shape and ready for the stage. Pilates strengthens, lengthens and tones muscles. Floor Barre is a full body-conditioning workout that targets the abdominals, the glutes, thighs, calves and arms. Stretch keeps the body flexible and supple, boosts energy and improves posture. Follow Darcey's unique workout and you too will look and feel fabulous.

I injured my back and it took almost two months to get better, during which time I gained weight through inactivity. I needed to find something wich would give me back some flexibility without straining my back and triggering the injury again. This book is perfect. It's aimed at strengthening the muscles without bulking up, and does so in a way that works the body without causing strain. The exercises made me feel strong and flexible again and the best part is that as you get fitter you can stretch more into the positions and feel like you're achieving even more, so it's not an inert programme that will only take you so far. This is a programme that will help you regain fitness that you've lost, or improve your current fitness. This book was written by someone who really knows what she's talking about, and it shows.

I've only been practicing this workout for a short time but its really nice. Its completetly about toning your body. Darcey gives great advice on how to achive the best results and how to exercise in a safe, healthy way. The routine makes me feel stronger (without being bulkier), happier and so very graceful. I shall be considering Darcey's dvd's for my next fitness purchase.

I loved her first book 'Pilates for Life' and was excited to receive this workout. Other reviewers must be better able to concentrate than me, as I felt it was information overload. The warm up was lovely, but I just couldn't understand the floor barre. I even studied the book inbetween workouts, to try and memorise the ballet terminoligy (plie, demi plie, tendus etc) but I found my overworked brain starting to frazzle. Too frustrating for me. To be fair, I do deal with two very demanding small children all day, and so by evening a workout has to be as simple to follow as possible! This looks like a fabulous workout, I only wish I could follow it. If there was a DVD I would buy it!
