4.0 out of 5 stars Good concise commentary 3 Dec 2009
By JohnH - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This commentary on Daniel is concise. It does a very good job of keeping the reader focused on two main topics, mainly the topic of people of God living in an ungodly world such as Daniel in Babylon, and the topic of the prophecies as revealed in the book of Daniel. The comentary also does a very good job of relating the various parts of the book of Daniel, such as the vision of the statue of various types of metal compared to the vision of the animals. And I especially liked the dealing with the prophecy of the coming Anointed One and the seventy "sevens"; the commentary did not go into elaborate detail, which can be very interesting but which might be out of place in a commentary such as this which is concise; the high level presentation of three different possibilities and their calculations of the seventy "sevens" was well done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent as usual 23 Dec 2009
By J. Benack - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
You can't go wrong with any expositional commentary written by Dr. Boice. I especially appreciate his honesty. He obviously is from a reformed background, but in terms of his eschatology and his own interpretation, he often gives credence the viewpoints of premillenialism.
Daniel is a difficult book to study but Dr. Boice is able to break it down in such a way that it is easy to grasp and see the big picture through out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Concise and clear 17 Nov 2009
By Buenoslibros.es - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
The best description of this commentary on Daniel is -I think- the one offered to the author himself by one of the elders of his church: "Instead of going into all the minuted details of these profecies the way some do ... you've tried to extract the main principles and apply them to our lives now."

I thank the author for the clarity of his exposition, his humility when -sometimes- announcing that his interpratation may be wrong, and his bringing the text to our modern lives. As for the events announced and that have been fulfilled, this is a good survey; as for those events that are yet to be fulfilled the author does not speculate but sets clear demarcation marks between the former and the latter.

I also appreciated this book for the concise and clear way that historical facts were presented as the chapters in this prophetic book of Daniel progressed.
4.0 out of 5 stars Daniel Commentary 1 April 2014

It didn't quite meet my expectations. I was looking for something to supplement the Bible commentaries I use for developing my adult Bible study Sunday school lessons. This is more a study guide, but I think will give me some beneficial insight into the Biblical material and how it relates to us today.

I love Boice's commentaries. He always explained to the common reader. Too bad he is gone, but this writings will go on forever.
