Product Description

Are you tired of playing the same old openings again and again? Perhaps it's time for a change and here's the answer: choose Dangerous Weapons and amaze your opponents with new and exciting opening ideas! In this book, three renowned opening experts get together to take a revolutionary look at the Dutch Defense, one of Black's most ambitious answers to 1 d4. In doing so they take the road less traveled and concentrate on fresh or little-explored variations - selecting a wealth of 'dangerous' options for both colors. Whether playing White or Black, a study of this book will leave you confident and fully-armed, and your opponents running for cover! "Dangerous Weapons" is a series of opening books which supply the reader with an abundance of hard-hitting ideas to revitalize his or her opening repertoire. Many of the carefully chosen weapons are innovative, visually shocking, incredibly tricky, or have been unfairly discarded. However, the one thing they have in common is that they are guaranteed to throw even your most experienced opponents off balance. This book presents the Dutch defense in a completely new light. It is packed with original ideas and analysis. It is ideal lines to shock your opponents.

Pretty Good 6 Mar 2010
By Chess reader - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This is another volume in the Dangerous Weapons series. At 223 pages, this is a pretty straightforward book. For those who don't know what Dangerous Weapons books are, I will give a short definition. Dangerous Weapons are ideas in different openings that the authors have extensively analyzed. In order to be counted as Dangerous, they must be off the beaten track, often weird, or complicated, or extremely ambitious. Anyway, of the book's weapons, 6 are for white and 6 are for black. The authors did a good job, the analysis is sound, and there are no typos. In general, the options for white appear on the board much earlier than the ones for black; for example, two of white's options appear on move two, while black's weapons don't appear until (on average) move 6. This makes it more useful for white players who like to deviate early, while it gives black extra options in the main lines (doesn't that make the whole book an argument for the early deviations it advocates for white?). Why only 4 stars then? Simply put, it's not amazing. It's a good book, a great book, but it doesn't sweep me off my feet. Looking for an option for white against the Dutch? Check out this well-written book.
One of the better "Dangerous Weapon" books... 19 Jan 2012
By Jeffery C. Jones - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a very well written book, which has some very playable and realistic ideas in the pages!
Unlike some of the "Dangerous Weapon" series, lots of the variations in this book are actually playable and viable!
I have used several on the White side and gots some VERY nice wins in under 30 monves..3-0 thus far
The analysis is very good, its well-explained and the authors give you a good sampling of things that could happen...they raise no false hopes or expectations, but priovide you with some solid ground work in this opening,.
Id recommend it totally, especially to players ofthe White pieces that are blocked for a good idea as for what to do agaisnt the Dutch Defense...
Give this book a try, I think you wil be very happy you did! :)
