One of the most popular British classics from a bygone era is finally released on DVD by Odeon Entertainment.
"Dangerous Moonlight", the wartime romantic drama from 1941 tells the story of Polish composer and pianist Stefan Radetzky (Anton Wallbrook) who escapes the Nazi invasion and joins a Polish air squadron in England. The film centres around his recovery from memory loss sustained during action. Sally Gray (Carole Peters), a journalist happens to meet Radetsky during his work on a composition. They happen to meet again later in New York. Destiny runs a romantic course of affection and love culminating in marriage.
The composition is, of course, the well known "Warsaw Concerto" (Richard Addinsell). Whilst the film is typical of similar productions of the time, it has remained a firm favourite with audiences due to Addinsell's rhapsodic music, which became the first of similar scores in later films. Affectionately dubbed a "Denham Concerto" the "Warsaw Concerto" and Dangerous Moonlight will remain a nostalic favourite of British cinema for all time. The transfer from film to DVD is good. However digital remastering of this classic would have been a final and well worth while touch. Buy it and enjoy.........
