Book Description

In this spellbinding novel, Connie Brockway dazzles with her penetrating insights into the impossible dreams and dark desires of the human heart.
Mercy Coltrane, a brash young American woman, has arrived in England to search for her missing brother. Willing to risk anything in her quest, she seeks out the help of Hart Moreland, the mercenary her father enlisted years ago to protect his land—when Hart was known as Duke the Gunslinger.
Now Earl of Perth in his native England, Hart has turned his back on his past in order to achieve a hard-earned position of respect and power, and the last thing he needs is a reminder of his violent history. But Mercy proves to be much more than just a painful remnant of the world he left behind. Vibrant, witty, and beautiful, she embodies the possibility for happiness that Hart desperately craves.
Includes a special message from the editor, as well as excerpts from other Loveswept titles.

I hadn't heard the best things about this book, to be honest. And I'd read All Through the Night (excellent), My Dearest Enemy (pretty damn good), Anything for Love (well, it was an early book...) and the one that was absolutely stunning, mind-blowing, all the superlatives, As You Desire. So how would A Dangerous Man compare to the rest?
I needn't have worried. Brockway does it again with her first book with Dell. For a synopsis, read what Amazon has to say. But the fact is, Hart and Mercy are absolutely perfect for each other. The scene where they meet and Mercy states her ultimatum (or blackmail) is gripping. The first love scene is so special.
Connie Brockway delivers, and I am eagerly awaiting her newest book, the first in a trilogy set in McLairen's Isle. Sounds pretty wonderful to me.

5.0 out of 5 stars stetsons, gunsligners & regency bodice rippers? 30 Aug. 2005
By Kotori
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Thats it!
I MUST read slower! This gem from Connie Brockway is to be savoured, not sped through - how does one read slow enough to make a delightful book like this last a week, rather than a few hours?
A ridiculous combination of prim Regency & menacing Westerns turns into a magic mix in Brockways capable hands. Never too grim in spite of the sober & tormented Earl of Perth, Hart.
The delightfully articulate Merry Coltrane runs into Hart at a very proper country houseparty hosted by a duke, Ashton, who is expected to announce a match with Harts youngest sister Annabelle momentarily.
After his outrageous past as a gunslinger in the Wild West, Hart has been living circumspectly and pouring money into his sisters futures. Which they may or may not have appreciated...
Merry is seeking her brother and attempts to hire Hart to find him - not an attempt which goes over too well.
The rest of the story draws out a grand tale of attraction, reputations, love and as ever with Ms Brockway - Wit.
A wonderful book to grin through, and wow! As someone who has never had the slightest interest in the bygone days of American lore, (not since Little House on the Prarie, at any rate) I am freshly entranced with the myths:
lowslung holsters
battered stetsons
dangerously attractive ranch hands
..John Wayne?

3.0 out of 5 stars A nice read but not Brockway's best 31 Dec. 1998
By A Customer
Format:Mass Market Paperback
The book is enjoyable but I found the hero a little too physically rough with the heroine. If you've read other Brockways, this one is still a nice read. You can enjoy it. . .but the other's are better. "All Through the Night" and "My Dearest Enemy" have more well rounded characters and to me Brockway's "As You Desire" is superior to all of her other novels.

Interesting from the beginning, even with a few unexpected twists in the story, a nice romance with adventure. Good character's with individual personalities. Well worth a read.
