5.0 out of 5 stars dangerous donkey, 23 Oct 2010
the third in the series of adam cranford books starts at a breathtaking pace as is the norm in all the books by this author. In this book we meet adam addressing his fear of heights [one which i share] head on sky diving from and airplane. The world of adam cranford, the central character in these books, continues to intrigue and inspire. This time the kidnapping of a close friend needs all his ingenuity and cunning as well as his resourceful friends to plot a successful escape. The action never falters throughout the 218 pages. It is an absolute page turner which results in racing pulses and sleep deprivation. You have to know the outcome before you can sleep! totally compelling and believeable. I wanted to enroll in the foundation immediately. this is a book to capture the imagination of young and old alike. a flawed hero is an attractive character who you will cheer on to the final page. those who like the Alex Rider books will equally enjoy this. I highly recommend it

5.0 out of 5 stars A good action read., 31 Aug 2010
I've not read the first two books of the series but I'm definitely going to put them on my wish list (hint hint). Lots of action. It think the line "Cranford's a hero, but he's no saint." sums up the main character. He is quite hard in his own dark way. I wondered about a 14 year old going to rescue a friend in Afghanistan, but the story hold together quite well. I felt it was a bit short, but the author says that is intentional following reader comments. It's more human than the Alex Rider books, but I didn't work out quite how the hero got his fortune together.
