Quite Good.,

There are some really superb books for children around at the moment but for me, this isn't quite one of them. It's all quite good. The story is quite good but seems to have too many coincidences. The characters are quite good but just a little two dimensional, they never quite feel real. The description of place was quite good - I could clearly see the odd little flat and the back of the van etc - but place needs purpose and at the end of the day I just didn't care enough about what happened to these characters to really love this book.
I was reading the book aloud to my son, age 10, and he found it a bit boring. I do, however, know other children who've loved it - so possibly just a question of taste?

I felt moved to review this book when I saw the earlier reader's comments because we love this book!
I'm reading this to my nine year old at the moment and he absolutely adores it, he wants to go to bed to get the next chapter! My 12 year old son is not above sneaking in to listen some nights either. Its also quite nice because I'm not bored by it as sometimes you are reading kids' books. I'd definitely recommend it.
