Dang Blues is my album of the year, in a year full of great albums - even though Detroit's Bob Zabor doesn't do anything new here (you can trace incarnations of this style of music through past decades), he still manages to sound refreshing, new and pretty vital.
He plays harmonica, slide guitar, bass drum and jangly bits and pieces. Yes folks, he's a one-man band, a one-man band that plays some of the most scorching blues hollers and stomps you will ever hear. He preaches the some lo-fi recording approach as Detroit neighbours the White Stripes, and has recorded Dang Blues in his basement next to his washing machine.
Needless to say this is a great, feral stomp of a record but if you ever get to see the man play live... now that really is something else!

Jawbone is the only artist in the history of John Peel on Radio 1 that has been asked for an encore by the legend himself.
If you love music in its rawest form (and you can't get any more raw than live recordings from a one man band running from a car battery) then Jawbone is for you ... blues as it was meant to be!
I can't extol the virtues of this album enough!!!

Jawbone...what a great name for a rabid harmonica player...he was one of the last artists I picked up on from John Peel before he went to that great radio station in the sky.
This is the rawest of hard hitting lo-fidelity blues...all from a one-man band: Guitar, kick drum and mouth harp.
This is not light home listening, it is far too full on for that, but I have dropped a few of his tunes on numerous occasions at rock and blues clubs and they have always gone down stormingly well with the crowds.
He gives so much of himself on this album, with so much power and energy, to give any more, would be to spill his guts on the studio floor...this music is invigorating...like a cold shower...or a stiff snort of ammonia...inspired.
