999 went through some experimental years and some of it worked some of it did not, what is in no doubt is the first three tracks on this cd Hallelujah, Black Sunshine and the real gem 20 years, just these three are worth buying Dancing in the Wrong Shoes, the rest of the cd is 999 on a different path, it always seemed that they struggle away from good rock beats but to call them hard punk would be a mestake as 999s best work is full of great melodies and guitar riffs with catchy lryics

"Face To Face" + 4,
By eveoflove - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Dancing in the Wrong Shoes (Audio CD)
Made in UK in 1999, Serial# RRCD-266, Playing Time 60:20The music on this CD basically consists of the "Face To Face" album (tracks 1 through 12), previously released on the Labritain label back in 1986, plus 4 bonus songs: "Heart To Heart", a non-album track, as well as 3 tracks from the "13th Floor Madness" album but presented here in live format during that album's tour. "Face To Face" was probably their most "polished" album, a much more radio-friendly effort than its predecessors, but without much success. The live material is well recorded and previously unreleased, but unfortunately presents a poor performance of the band's singer, Nick Cash, who seems to be consistently out of breath: perhaps he was constantly pogo-ing around the stage. If you're a 999 fan but don't have the pleasure of owning "Face To Face" on CD, this album is worth grabbing. If you have it, or if you're unfamiliar with one of UK's best punk bands of the late 70's, I would suggest you pass up on this one and/or start elsewhere (give their first album a try!)

Not Their Best Work, But Not Bad,
By Kenneth M. Ortman - Published on Amazon.com

First off, this is most definitely not the place for a new 999 listener to start. (That would be a toss-up between the self-titled debut and Separates) Having said that, it's not a bad record by any means. As another user has already said, this CD contains the Face To Face LP along with some bonus tracks. Why they didn't name it as such is beyond me. The music is a bit more mellow than their early stuff but the songwriting is still there. Hardcore fans will want to own this.

999 Lite,

999 touching? Yes! This is a pretty, plesant album from the same nasty lot that brought you the manic 'Chicane Destination' and the seering 'High Energy Plan' earlier in their career. Please don't expect that if you purchase this CD. Nothing earth-shattering here but that's the whole point. This is the sound of a great punk/pub-rock band relaxing. I think this new CD cover says it all.
