Product Description

Product Description

It was as recently as the 1900s that the sport of dancing with dogs first burst onto the doggy scene. Trainer Mary Ray demonstrated a heelwork to music routine at Crufts and people were captivated by the display. Initially the performances focused on pure heelwork, but as the sport evolved so handlers began to try working with their dogs as a greater distance and in more flamboyant performances, often with costumes to match. This was Freestlye born. Since those early days dancing with dogs has gone from strength to strength and it is now one of the fastest-growing activities in the canine world. It's fun but it takes practice and skill to train a dog to perform seamlessly with its handler. What beginners need is an expert guide to show them the tricks of the trade - cue Mary Ann Nester! A competition-winning competitor, here she reveals in a lively question-and-answer format how everyone can make progress in this fun activity.

I have just received the Dancing with Dogs. It looks fun and easy yet informative in a chatty way. I think it is a book we will use for a long time as our whippet grows and calms down! I can recommend this book

Be careful! 19 April 2011
Format:Paperback
Browsing books and DVDs on Freestyle training for my young Collie - I've never heard of Mary Ann Nester - she certainly hasn't won any top competitions that I've heard of! If I'm going to buy something I'd like it to be by someone that really has got to the top in a sport. I'd highly recommend the Tina and Chandi DVD Teach your dog new tricks - I'd seen them at Crufts before they were on Britain's Got Talent and these are the kind of experienced team I want to learn from - four Crufts titles to their name, no other Freestyle dog can lay claim to that record! I thoroughly enjoyed their DVD - not strictly speaking a Freestyle DVD, but Tina shows how to teach loads of tricks both simple and complex that she uses with Chandi. Pays to shop around for the best! No offence to Mary Ann, whoever she may be!

Great Troubleshooting Answers! 11 Mar 2012
By Kim - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I am still a beginner in the freestyle world, but I don't know how I never found this book before! It was a very easy read, lots of pictures to help you with moves and the best part is the troubleshooting sessions. The book is chocked full of answers to problems from real-world freestylers and it was extremely helpful. I would defiinitely reccommend this book if you are a new freestyler and especially if you don't have access to others involved in this sport near you. It helped me teach my dog a couple moves I have really wanted to incorporate into routines.
