the definative critical study of music television, with close studies of the emmergance and growth of MTV. Andrew goodwin raises many issues to do with conflicting theories surrounding Music Television critism and the problems with using a classic realist criteria.

Very useful and essentail read for those interested in television critism

Very Interesting 10 April 2001
By "starsgt" - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This book is one of many that I have to read for a class titled 1980's America. I think that the author makes some great arguments and points out a few diffrent connections between MTV and American society. It is very easy to lose interest in the first few chapters but keep going and it will become easier to follow. He goes into depth with various songs and breaks down the actual videos. Definitly an intersting view on the importance of MTV in the 80's. But it is also nice to have some background knowledge on the time period.
