XFM DJ Eddy Temple Morris has regularly criticized dance music and has taken the opportunity to release a mix CD of what he thinks it should sound like. Unfortunately, the mix consists mostly of rubbish and unnecessary breaks remixes of rock records. Freelands remix of The Doors isn't too bad but the rest of Disc 1 is pretty bad. There is a pointless remix of Groove Armadas' 'Superstylin' which plays down the massive bassline that made the original so good and a silly remix of The Prodigys' 'Out of Space'. There is the odd good tune from the likes of Deekline & Wizard but it's mostly pretty boring generic breakbeat.

Disc 2 contains 12" versions of all the worst tunes from Disc 1 and none of the few decent ones.

Poor.

Bland, bland and Outta Space. I was anticipating this release highly, but the disappointment was huge to say the least.

The unmixed CD is filled of tunes with almost zero flair, breaks or anything really to excite. It's not good enough that a 'rock' tune gets remixed and we're supposed to nod along; these versions just don't stand up in their own right.

The best tracks are both from Deekline & Wizard, their own penned "Woah" and Deekline's remix of Out of Space (Prodigy) - shining lights in a dirgy mirth. The irony of the Who and the Doors being remixed is lost on me.

DanceSucks! 28 April 2007

Despite the constant hype, this really doesnt excite me half as much as the Remix show on XFM that Eddy is best known for. I know a lot of this is because a lot of what they play on that show is questionable legally and can't easily be released, but I couldn't really recommend this either for longtim fans or anyone else for that matter...
