Book Description

“Pat Walker takes to heart the same type of messages I try to relate through my music and my life—go out and seek your dreams, don’t ever give up, celebrate your life and every part of who you are. I know Pat’s journey of mystical transformations will inspire you. Enjoy the journey." -- Sammy Hagar

Wandering into a bar in Mexico with her husband, Pat Walker is hoping to enjoy a rock concert by a famous singer previously unknown to her—but something frightening and wonderful happens instead. In the midst of the cheering fans and screaming guitars, she is lifted out of her body and becomes engulfed in a white light and a feeling of ecstasy. She stumbles upon her soul, and God. Soon after this experience, more strange things begin to happen to her—she starts having psychic revelations, glimpses of past
lives, and contact with angels and spirits. Fearing the loss of her sanity, Pat’s search for an explanation leads her to international recording star Sammy Hagar (former lead singer of Van Halen), who takes it upon himself to help her decipher the meaning of these supernatural experiences.
In this true story, Pat struggles to maintain her roles of middle-class wife and mom, while simultaneously being thrust into the explosive world of celebrities, sex, and rock ‘n’ roll. She confronts the incredible power of her mind and spirit, and soon begins to reevaluate her perception of reality, and the meaning of life.

PATRICIA WALKER lives and writes in northern Colorado. Her poems have appeared in published poetry compilations and many articles she has written are featured on the Web. She authors a personal blog, writing primarily about traditional and nontraditional spiritual approaches to life and ways to enhance one’s journey through music, nature, and personal introspection.

Review

Sammy Hagar has recommended music fans read the book Dance of the Electric Hummingbird: An Ordinary Woman s Accidental Journey to Enlightenment, the Supernatural, and Rock Star Sammy Hagar, by Pat Walker. The Chickenfoot singer calls it a must-read for redheads, according to a report on the Van Halen News Desk. Hagar continues, saying that the author takes to heart the same type of messages I try to relate through my music and my life go out and seek your dreams, don t ever give up, celebrate your life and every part of who you are. I know Pat s journey of mystical transformations will inspire you. Enjoy the journey. So, what is the journey? Well according to the book s description, Electric Hummingbird follows the author as she wanders into a bar in Mexico with her husband. She is hoping to enjoy a rock concert by a famous singer previously unknown to her, but something frightening and wonderful happens instead. We won t give you the whole story which, by the way, supposedly is based on a true story but suffice to say God, psychic revelations and Hagar play a role in what follows. --Nancy Dunham - ultimateclassicrock.com

5.0 out of 5 stars This will wake you up 17 Jun. 2012
By Rupesh5
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Thought-provoking and well written, this book is Pat Walker's personal account of her awakening experiences, triggered by a Sammy Hagar and the Warboritas gig in Cabo, and the subsequent transition period from spiritual slumber to a deeper, more intense, more complete reality. I should make it clear that it is a spiritual, rather than religious, awakening which introduces her to her truer, infinite self (as described in schools of thought as diverse as the ancient Yogic, Buddhist and Taoist texts in the East to the writings of Carl Jung in the West). In fact Walker bravely and openly renounces her rigorous upbringing in the Catholic Church, whose teachings were a major source of her own internal conflict and caused her to struggle in her early life.

Such an awakening period is traditionally very difficult for people (and Walker is no different - her journey is no stroll in the park) as their entire perception of reality, once dominated by rational mind, shatters and new dimensions start to appear. Once someone starts to wake up, they can never truly go back to sleep, no matter how hard their mind tries to convince them of the logic behind everything. They may snooze for intervals of weeks, months or even years, but can never truly settle back into the deep slumber that prevented them from seeing their true selves. Dance Of The Electric hummingbird impecabbly describes ways in which the author tries to rationalise to herself the many unorthodox series of events which follow the Cabo show and start to point her life in completely new directions.

This prompts the reader to ask themselves: how much of our waking time are we fully awake?

5.0 out of 5 stars Dreams can come true 31 May 2012
Format:Paperback
Knowing Pat as a friend and having experienced the 'magic' that flows in Cabo myself several times, made reading this book a trip down to memory lane for me. But Pat's story also shows that wonderfull things can happen.....dreams can come true! As long as you're open for it, believe in it and go for it! I recommend this book to all of you who believe in chasing your dream or who need a push to actually start chasing it! Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Weaving of Rock 'n' Roll and Spirituality 23 Dec. 2011
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
An average woman goes on an incredible spiritual journey prompted by a fateful encounter with a famous rock musician. It sounds like something too unusual to be true, but it happened to Pat Walker, and it changed her life. Reading "Dance of the Electric Hummingbird" might change the way you look at life as well.

Pat takes the reader on a wonderful joy-ride into her exploration of the metaphysical after seeing rock musician Sammy Hagar in concert. The concert catapulted her onto an uncharted path brimming with synchronicity and spiritual themes. With a refreshingly honest voice, we are privy to Pat's innermost thoughts as she desperately tries to make sense of all of the amazing things/insights happening to her. Skeptical that all of the synchronicities really have deeper meaning, she ultimately grasps that everything/everyone is connected...and that music can be a portal into this unseen web.

Overall, "Dance of the Electric Hummingbird" is a fast-paced, well written account of one woman's powerful transformation from being ordinary to embracing the extraordinary. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in self-growth and the life-changing impact music can have on our lives.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read..... 6 Jan. 2012
By James Landon - Published on Amazon.com

As a mother, wife and fan of rock music, this book really touched my heart and soul. I spent the last two afternoons curled up on the couch soaking up each and every word. The book is very well written and is quite moving and inspirational. The writer conveyed her experiences in a way that even if you don't believe in mystical events, her words leave you pondering. I found myself within many of the pages. I have felt and experienced similar type things over the years but brushed these aside as more of a strange fluke, odd occurrence or just the state of mind I was in at the time, however, this book has made me realize I need to become more open and aware. Dance of the Electric Hummingbird made me laugh and it made me cry - it made me stop and think about life, God, spirits and myself but most of all it gave me the thumbs up to keep on enjoying, loving and celebrating life to it's fullest!! What a great read! This book ROCKS! Well done Pat!

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb read 13 April 2012

Dance Of The Electric hummingbird impecabbly describes ways in which the author tries to rationalise to herself the many unorthodox series of events which follow the Cabo show and start to point her life in completely new directions.

This prompts the reader to ask themselves: how much of our waking time are we fully awake? What proportion of our lives is spent stumbling through our monotonous days on auto-pilot, truly in contact with neither ourselves nor our fellow men? Why do we feel disconnected and live exclusively in our own heads, instead of feeling connected to each other, the planet and something deeper? This reviewer actually started to have unusual experiences whilst reading the book, as has oft been reported by readers of classic spiritual texts such as Autobiography Of A Yogi, The Power Of Now and The Tibetan Book Of The Dead.

The book also deals head on with difficult subjects such as death/fanaticism, and of course great subjects such as sex and The Red Rocker. Having been given Senor Hagar's personal approval it should be a priority for any R `N R fan who also has an interest in spiritual teachings, self-development or psychology.

Do yourself a favour and pick up a copy.

I found this book to be inspiring and magical on so many levels. I felt like I was having a conversation with a close friend. I love that Sammy Hagar's music was the catalyst for Pat to begin her mystical journey. Have you ever had a song or favorite piece of music move you to an emotional place and overwhelm you? Anyone who has ever wondered , "Okay, is this all there is?" will enjoy Pat's story. It is a great read - honest, straight forward and charming.
