It consists of an annotated index of books, articles, chapters, reviews of conferences and other works published in English during 1965 to 1982. This book follows the work of Beaumont and Magriel. Cyril Beaumont published in 1929 Bibliography of Dancing (reprinted in 1963). Paul David Magriel continued working on this topic and published his Bibliography of dancing in 1936.
It appears that there is a period between 1936 and 1965 with out bibliographies about dance.
Most articles in this book refers to U.S. ballet and dance and there are few descriptions of articles about historical dances but it is interesting to analize how the writer describes the sources.
He applies a standard for describing all sources but some books and articles appears without description.
The classification applied (reflected in the index) can be confusing because the categories used belong to different analytical levels.
There are few bibliographycal works about dance so this work is an essential source for researchers in this area.
