Product Description

Product Description

Perpetually single Dan Taylor is so terrible at meeting women his own mother suspects he might be gay. So best friends — and smug married couple — Hannah and Rob insist he needs some serious man management. Taking matters into their own hands, they decide to make him their ‘Project’ and set to work on finding him a girlfriend — one that might actually stick around long enough to meet his mother.

A new wardrobe, a better haircut and a slick online profile later and an unwitting Dan is ready to be launched on the London dating scene. But miracles don’t just happen, and when he does achieve some success with women, it’s not in the way anyone expected.

'Full of witty one-liners, Dan Taylor Is Giving Up On Women is a hilarious examination of the morals of modern-day dating." - Matt Dunn, bestselling author of The Ex-Boyfriends' Handbook and A Day at the Office.

More About the Author

Neal grew up in London, and the only real childhood hardship he knew was not being able to get a bedroom door sign with his name spelled properly on it. He knew he'd rather be a writer than an astronaut from the time he realised he didn't want a job that required too much travel. He has been an editor for spoof news website Newsbiscuit, written some jokes for BBC radio, and spent a short time as Britain's most unlikely private investigator.

Neal Doran now lives on the South West coast of Ireland with his wife and two sons, who still prefer their mum's stories to his.

He can be found on Twitter, usually when he's not supposed to be, as @nealdoran.

Neal also has a Facebook page, which he's not really sure what to do with: https://www.facebook.com/nealdoranwriter. Say hello!

Format:Kindle Edition
Do you use your e-reader to read in public or try to sneak a few pages at work? Then don't attempt to read this because you'll be laughing out loud with tears pouring down your face. So many occurrences in this book will ring a personal memory bell that will make you writhe with embarrassment or hoot with laughter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Genuinely laugh-out-loud funny 18 Feb 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A refreshing look at modern romance through the eyes of Dan Taylor - a likeable character who has his friends ( a married couple) to thank for the situations in which he ends up. The dialogue rings true and the picture painted of office life hits the right notes. Books are often described as being 'laugh-out-loud funny' - this one has plenty of those moments. The story moves along at a good pace, the characters are well drawn and the ending left me hoping that a sequel would be coming along in the not too distant future. A great debut novel. Hurry up and write more, Mr. Doran!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic read. 17 Feb 2014

I do believe that most men will find something in this book that has happened to them, or they could see them self doing.

A very enjoyable easy read, with myself looking forward to more of the storeys of Dan Taylor.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very funny read 31 Dec 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Highly enjoyable take about the unsuccessful love life of the hapless Dan, whose closest friends (a married couple since Uni days) decide to help him get fixed up.

The situations he ends up in are hilarious if a bit unlikely, but the characters are so well drawn that you can forgive the author for that...just be sure that when you're reading it you're somewhere where it's OK to burst out laughing!

Amusing. Hint of "You've got mail". Witty dialogue. Interesting characters. Almost believable situations. I'll look for another of his books.

Great easy read, made me laugh out loud in places, which doesn't often happen. Not the best book ever, but I could relate to the office characters and it kept me reading.
