Another classic album from San Diego's mighty Swami record label. Dan Sartain is truly a surprising talent. He's young, he's got soul and the man is a true entertainer (I saw him last year with The Husbands and Sultans in San Diego at The Casbah). With influences ranging anywhere from Southern bomp, to soul, to Detroit garage riffage, to the swagger of LA punk rock, the Southern California surf guitar style and a wee bit of Latin influence. The boy should be going places but guessing from the way the ugly music business runs these days, this jewel, if you will, may never get discovered by a nationwide audience. Let the hand claps, maracas and his swagger guitar licks induce you into his dirty soul lyrics. This man will go down in history, whether it's just in the underground or worldwide. If you have any bloody sense of style, you will purchase this glorious album, and like it. And don't forget that there's many guest appearances by San Diego music legends from bands like Rocket From The Crypt, Sultans and Beehive & The Barracudas. Yes, I'm speaking of John Reis and Gar Wood kiddies, plus many more talents.

This is stripped down rock & roll at it's very best.

The album starts off with 'Tryin To Say' which is a full on burst of energy, good vibes and the man having fun.
The song is catchy as hell, Dan Sartain wailing 'n a whooping through the verses.

'The next track starts with a battle cry 'Spring Break nineteen ninety eight' and yet you feel as though you've been sucked inside the speakers through to a time warp to the 1950's.
The song pulses and bursts into the line: 'We had a ball in Panama City'

The songs merge into each other taking you on a journey of fun fantastical songs, yet there are glimpse of seriousness.
When you get to the Cobras songs numbering three in all, the tone becomes introspective:
In Walk Among the Cobras Pt I. the lyrics a 'well I found out, what it meant, to really say I'm starving and the truth was so alarming'
'well I found out they were right, man will rob your eyes to see and it's all in front of me and the truth will set you free'.

I love this album... I can't recommend it enough.

Saw Dan supporting The Hives and just had to get some of his stuff on cd.
Every track on here is great and brings back great memories of seeing him live.
