Exciting Stuff!,
By Jenny (N.Yorks, England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Damaged Goods (Paperback)
The write up suggests it is the story of a 14 year old girl accused of murdering her mother, when in fact, although this is not untrue, it really follows the story of the lawyer defending her, in both her professional and personal life. However, it wasn't too challenging, a book you can read without too much thinking. Just how I like 'em!

I bought this book as it says on the back that readers of kevin lewis and Jane Elliott will love this book! Now I am a big fan of both of these authors and there is no way this book is written in the same context as them, I read the back of the book and it gives the impression that the main storyline is about the girl Kelsey who is been accused of killing her mother, however I found the whole story was mainly focused on the lawyer Lilly, and the police side of things! We hardly ever see Kelsey in the book- which is quite contrare to kevin lewises and jane elliotts book where the main bulk of the book is about the character - whom has been put into care on the streets etc! I read a book in half a day but had to force myself to read this one as it was so boring - and from the other review saying they laughed out loud - were you reading a different books?????????? Definitely not recommended seemed to me the author was more focused on her side of things as the book states she used to be a lawyer - rather than the side of the victim! Definitely wouldnt buy another book of hers unless she focuses more of the victims side of things! If you like Martina cole, mandasue heller, kevin lewis, june hampson, and jane elliott you will definitely NOT Like this book !

a good insight,
This review is from: Damaged Goods (Paperback)
From the back of this book I did expect to hear more from Kelsey, but it is more focused on the life of the lawyer defending her, Lily Valetine. However I really did enjoy this book and adore Lilly's character. I look forward to readig more from Helen Black.
