The repercussions of his overwhelming sexual passion for Anna are ultimately horrific for all concerned. Hart leads the reader to the devastating conclusion with cool precision and masterful control. Her psychological insights are often startling; you will find something of yourself within the text. The language is elegant and the stripped narrative utterly compelling. You cannot read this sinister tale and not be altered.
I cannot recommend this highly enough!
P.S. If you've seen the film, forget it: the novel is far superior.
