Book Description

In RUGBY TALES, Lawrence Dallaglio recalls with affection and razor-sharp humour, the behind-the-scenes stories that have previously only been shared within the world of international rugby, together with some classics from his rugby-playing colleagues and mates.

There's the one about the 2003 World Cup winner who curtseyed to the queen and another featuring the rugby legend who was affronted by the suggestion that he had been out on the town until 3 a.m. days before a crucial match. 'Don't you look at me,' he cried indignantly, 'I got in at six.'

Featuring big games, bigger personalities, quick-fire banter and the odd pint or two, these are the best of the best from the legends of the dressing room, pitch and pub.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for every rugby fan 1 Feb. 2010
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
No matter if you are juts getting into rugby or if you remember the years and games in this book it is a must read. I cried with laughter at some of the stories. I recalled many of the games. It gives a wonderful insight into the game at all levels.

4.0 out of 5 stars Amusing, but not a stay up all night book 13 April 2010
By Alex
Format:Hardcover
This book is an entertaining insight into the world of professional and amateur rugby. A great present for Dad's who love rugby.

It's not a book that you will feel compelled to sit down and read in one go - but to be honest I'd be suprised if that's what you are expecting. A good read for a lazy Sunday afternoon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great fun - some cracking stories 30 Jun. 2011
By Simon
Format:Paperback
I was given this book for Christmas, and I must admit approached it with a degree of trepidation - former stars recounting their glory days don't usually have me rushing to the book store. However this book isn't like that at all - there are some genuinely funny stories in here that will have you laughing out loud (e.g. Martin Bayfield's description of a drugs bust during his playing days) and some that will just leave you thinking 'only in rugby could that happen' (e.g. Joel Stransky's description of the aftermath of South Africa's world cup victory in 1995).
Great fun, I just hope there are some stories left over for another edition!

5.0 out of 5 stars You Can't Beat Knowledge 19 April 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a cracking book, of the yarns that get told in rugby clubs and on coaches, going to and from matches, thus making it irresistible to fans and former players alike. Dallaglio has used his extensive network of players, contemporary and past, to assemble a book that it is a genuine page-turner. I've read it twice now, and that seldom happens with this type of book. It is particularly good at conveying the spirit of rugby, especially that period of transition from the amateur to the professional game. An awful lot has been lost from the game as a result of that process. Dallaglio is its obituarist.

5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic, a real side splitter 13 Sept. 2011
By powellm
Format:Kindle Edition
this has to be the best book ive read this year, as a player myself, i have a few stories but wanted to see how far the pro's go in theres. Every story is funny and worded as if your there watching it unfold. it got to the point whilst waiting at the airport departure lounge, my fiancée told me to shut up and ask what was so funny, after a brief example of a story she read it to check i wasnt fibbing. well i never got the book back until she was done, meaning you dont have to play or watch to get this book. a must read for all well done!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Funny! 21 Nov. 2009
Format:Hardcover
I have only just got to Chapter 1 of this book and have already been howling laughing at some of the stories Lawrence tells. If the rest is as good as the first 20 pages or so, I am in for a treat!

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book 15 Dec. 2010
By Tricky
Format:Hardcover
Having supplied a couple of stories for the book, it was great to read other contributions. It's perfect for dipping into and a great book to keep in the toilet for casual readers. Some of the stories are genuinely hilarious and others informative. Really enjoyed it.
