Review

"Students have access to many study aids to help them master the drug details that are required for their curricula and certification examinations. This is one of the better ones, especially for those who follow the British curriculum."-Thomas L. Pazdernik, PhD(University of Kansas Medical Center) Doody Review: 5 stars

Rang & Dales Pharmacology Flashcards are an excellent resource to compliment the textbook and provide brilliant summary points about each drug. The contents span 39 topics, ranging from anti-inflammatory drugs to anti-cancer drugs and everything in between.

Apparently there are 320 cards in total (I haven’t counted). Each one discusses the actions, mode of action, absorption, distribution, elimination, clinical use, adverse effects, as well as a helpful diagram of the processes involved. And whilst I wouldn’t recommend them as being your only source of knowledge, they nevertheless break down what can be quite complicated processes to several concise sentences.

The only bad word I have to say about Rang & Dales Pharmacology Flashcards has nothing to do with the content however. It’s the packaging, it could be greatly improved. The cards are packed far too tightly into the box. However, underneath the lid of the box there’s a large ring you can use to bind a chosen section of cards together, which is very useful.

These pharmacology flashcards are a great addition to any medical student’s collection. They cover pretty much every major drug we need to know. There are about 30 different sections. Also included is a general overview to drug metabolism and some cards on drug trials. I find them to explain the drug mechanisms really easily so even I can understand! Very well organized and easier to carry around than the big Rang and Dales!

Love these cards. Great for revision. Includes actions, mode of action, half life, clinical use and adverse effects. Brief but informative. A basis to elaborate further. The reason for not giving these cards 5stars is because the pictorial showing mode of action is not on the same card as the drug details.
