5.0 out of 5 stars not a toy 17 April 2011
Size Name:Large
This palette works. It is not a toy. I am a serious acrylic painter thoroughly fed up with wasting expensive paint because it dries out so quickly. This palete will save you money & keeps acrylic paint workable for days, plus your mixed colours stay fresh.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful 3 Mar 2010

questionnaire indicates that this is a toy. This is not a toy, but a palette, i.e., a semi-rigid, flat surface on which a painter arranges and mixes paints. And it comes with a lid, which keeps the paint fresh for days and even weeks. Right now I'm using it to gouaches, but it is suitable for any type of watermedia, v.g. acrilycs, watercolour, etc.
Wonderful!

I agree with the previous reviewer. I've been using one of these for years and it hasn't yet fallen apart. I couldn't work without it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Daler Rowney Stay Wet palette 10 Jun 2013

The lid is made of hard plastic that breaks easy, mine was broken on the arrival :( I won't recommend others to buy it.

1.0 out of 5 stars The packaging is better quality 29 Dec 2012

I recently bought one of these expecting a genuinely usable, rigid palette (Daler have ensured you can't see what's inside the box). Instead I got a flimsy plastic tray and a few bits of paper that wrinkle and bleed when wet, and consequently, are only usable once. I have always equated Daler Rowney with a certain level quality but this is a vastly overpriced con. Have already gone back to using a piece of glass and cling film.

4.0 out of 5 stars pandam 10 Nov 2012

I was advised to buy this product as I have just started painting in acrylic, it works well, as I frequently get distracted in the middle of my painting and was apt to get annoyed before.

5.0 out of 5 stars 2nd one 3 Aug 2013
Size Name:Large|Verified Purchase
This is the second of these I've brought but the last one was the smaller for when I go painting on walk about. These are excellent for keeping acrylic moist. I ordered the large one for my studio. You can't hold it like other pallets, I personally don't find it a problem. In use you may find that when you squeeze a blob of paint out it will keep its form for up to two days, after which it will dissolve into a fluid consistence but that maybe me putting too much water in it. The way it works is you put a membrane down and you soak with water then drain off the excess, then put the top sheet on top of the membrane making sure the corners are firmly set down as they can curl up, the top layer will wrinkle but that's normal. It's not made of heavy duty plastic but it doesn't need to be. When you've finished painting it just a case of putting the lid on and it's saved for next time. This is an excellent product for the acrylic artist which will save money from wasted paints.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very flimsy.. for occasional use only.
Cheap lightweight plastic palette which is on par with materials used to package supermarket ready meals. I had approximately 3 weeks use before the lid cracked. Read more

Very good, but the Membrane is not quite large enough and dry's out quite quickly. The paper crickles and dries quickly. Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Pricey but does the job
It's pricey for what it is, making many people opt for the DIY option, I'm sure, but it does perform well and probably earns its keep in terms of paint saved pretty quickly.
