First released in 2004, this is the fifth episode of the third season of audio releases to feature the Daleks and no Doctor.
This episode picks up directly from the fourth in the season. All the separate story lines are now starting to come together and coalesce into a staggering epic whole. The truth behind the healing zones starts to become clear, and the Graxis Wardens find themselves a cause. Frustratingly the cliffhanger in the Galanar/Tarkov/Alaria story line in the final moments of episode 4 is not addressed until nearly half way through this episode, but addressed it is, ina thrilling fashion.
Now that all the storylines have been set up, the plot starts to move with a great deal of pace towards a conclusion. This episode has a lot of thrills and spills along the way, and some genuinely tense moments that really had me on the edge of my seat. There is also still room for character development, and themes of trust between the various rag tag of people forced together to fight the Daleks are explored. Along with all of this, the true nature of the Dalek healing zones is starting to become clear, with hints and suggestions that indicate a particularly evil and mind boggling scheme that is almost incomprehensible in its scale and grandiosity.
It's a thrill ride of an adventure, the only shortcoming is that it is not a stand alone release, you really need to listen to all the others in the series to get the full story. It's a single disc release, and clocks in at just over an hour. I love the sixties retro artwork, there is a feeling that this has been produced by people like me for people like me - people with a love of good design, a reverence for the Daleks and a sense of style. Excellent, 5 stars.
