Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review
The Fire in the Forging is the third title in the excellent Circle of Magic quartet and brings together Sandry, Daja, Tris and Briar--four very different characters from very different backgrounds who are joined together by an amazing magical power--in a story which fairly leaps off the page and into the imagination.

The Winding Circle mages where supposed to help drought-stricken Gold Ridge, but something seems to have gone wrong and the situation is getting worse rather than better. As things begin to spin out of control, our four heroes--with their magics utterly tangled and entwined--only add to the valley's problems, and they must learn how to harness their powers by separating them and confirming them. But this very act may destroy Daja's ability to manipulate fire, and therefore the only chance of saving Gold Ridge.

Tamora Pierce here weaves a wonderful tale of mystery and intrigue, filled with fantastical powers and vivid, well-rounded characters who each have their own definite strengths and weaknesses but who, together, learn to harness not only their mystical talents but their more earthly traits in order to work together.

Anyone who enjoys a good fantasy novel will love The Fire in The Forging--a book which can be enjoyed either as a stand alone story, or as part of the stunning quartet. (Age 10 and over) -- Susan Harrison --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Review
"The latest in the series is as innovative as the first two. A fascinating and fully realized world".

-- The Horn Book Magazine

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLANT, 22 Oct 1999
By A Customer
I found this book a really good read, once I picked it up I really couldn't put it down. Although it is classed as a childrens book I think it interests people of all ages and although it is the third of a quartet I don't believe you need to read them in order to understand them. My advise to any fantasy loving reader is to READ THIS BOOK!

5.0 out of 5 stars excallent- as good as the others, 16 Jun 2002
This is the third book in the Circle of Magic series and it is really great. It is mainly about Daja and how she and her teacher Frostpine get on when fires start popping up all over the country. The country is badly drought stricken so when the fires come they are very difficult to put out. They need extremely strong magic which all four of the children are willing to give. Unfortunately though, their magics have become tangled together so they keep doing strange things that they had not intended to do which just adds to the problems. Daja also meets some traders who to her great sadness refuse to speak to her (except one who has to go through complicated rituals to do so and paint parts of herself yellow!)because she is in their eyes cursed for being the sole survivor of a shipwreck. The only way she can be normal again is if she saves the life of a trader. An excellent read, definitely up to Tamora Pierce's high standard

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, 23 Jun 2001
By A Customer
Wonderful, brilliant there are millions of words which can be used to describe the brilliance of the Fire in the Forging. Just like all Tamora's other books its too brilliant for words. I really enjoyed the third tale of the Magic in th Circle because Da ja's world in but outside the traders is brilliant. Words can't describe the praise I would give to all Tamora Pierce's Books.
