Having already bought Birdsong by the same author/ illustrator, I was keen to see if her next book would enthrall my young daughter as much as the first. It certainly does!
My daughter is now two, and loves "Daisy hides" (as she calls it). The story of Jake searching for his cow (who can change colour like a chameleon) seems to really capture her imagination, and she loves looking for Daisy within every picture. After only a couple of readings, she has already begun reciting it to her teddies - I guess that means it must be well written for small people. It is a true favourite with her, and Birdsong also remains high on the list.
I would highly recommend this book for anyone with a pre-schooler.....

Superb!...a very talented author & illustrator. Not often you get the author who does all her own pictures. This book will be one to keep & pass down for many years to come. Looking forward to her next book out soon. This is my second purchase by this author & it had everything & more for all ages of children...& adults!...a lovely story! Well done!

Often with picture books, if the illustration's good, then the text falls down. If the text's good, the illustrations don't work. And sometimes there's simply no story. This book is the complete package.
Sandall's illustrations shine with character and sensitivity, and her text is (in the words of Goldilocks) 'just right.' It's perfectly-paced. Not a word too many or too few.
Kids will love playing along with the 'hide and seek' theme throughout the book. 'Daisy' is very re-readable with your own kids, but the style and format make it an excellent gift too. Well-recommended.
