Praise for Lose Wheat, Lose Weight: 'May just change your life.' THE IRISH TIMES Praise for Jane Sen's recipes: 'Meals that taste good and nourish body and soul.' THE TIMES Praise for Lose Wheat, Lose Weight: 'I just had to write to tell you how your book has transformed my life and that of my two colleagues. I had all the symptoms of wheat intolerance, and had been feeling awful for years. Your book has been like a magic wand, that has changed me. We all feel wonderful, have more energy and all our symptoms have disappeared. The added bonus is that after years of struggling to lose weight I'm also doing that too. FANTASTIC!!! So thanks again on behalf of three very happy people.' Carole Kennett (aged 53 and feeling 43) Praise for Jane Sen's Healing Foods and More Healing Foods: 'What I like about the recipes apart from their simple, practical arrangement is the way in which Jane buzzes to and fro between culinary cultures.' Michael Raffael 'Exciting and unusual flavours- delicious enough to fob off to teenagers and children without their suspecting they are eating healthily. She writes with a sense of fun I don't remember finding in more leaden wholefood books.' THE SUNDAY TELEGRAPH 'Within a week I could feel the difference. I felt better and had a lot more energy.' Product Description

From the co-author of the topical health bestseller "Lose Wheat, Lose Weight" comes another allergy-busting health regime. This book provides a simple, 3-week dairy-free detox programme and 30 recipes. It also tells you how to test yourself for a dairy intolerance. Everyone can benefit from cutting dairy products out of their diet, especially those who suffer from bloating, respiratory problems, fatigue and many other symptoms linked to food intolerance. Dairy has been linked to a host of health problems, including IBS, PMT, eczema and other skin conditions, rhinitis (nasal drip), asthma, osteoporosis and depression. Dairy is one of the key allergy-causing ingredients that people who suspect food intolerance exclude from their diet. This book provides an insight into why dairy is such a problem, the link between dairy and weight and how to rebalance the body's systems (digestive, lymph, skin and lungs) through the dairy-free detox.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book! Informative and practical., 1 Jul 2006
By Lynn A (Bucks, UK) - See all my reviews
When a healthcare professional suggested that a dairy intolerance might be causing my many and varied health problems, I was horrified. I love cheese! I've been veggie for over 20 years! I needed more information.

When I saw this book in a health food shop, my initial reaction was to ignore it - I don't do fad diets. However, on skipping through the pages my interest was caught, so I bought it and I'm so glad I did.

It was read, almost in its entirity, at the first sitting. The factual information on nutrition and how the body metabolises various foods is fascinating - a real eye opener! Who would have thought that eating a high amount of dairy produce could actually be counterproductive in the fight against osteoporosis?

The author obviously knows her stuff and this is in no way another "fad diet", but a highly informative and clearly presented, sensible approach to detecting a dairy intolerance. I believe many people could find that their irritating symptoms, such as rhinitis, headaches, sinusitis, sore throats, fluid retention, lack of energy etc (which they put up with on a daily basis or mask with over-the-counter medication), could become a thing of the past. If only I had known about this years ago!

Read it and do it! It could change your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly informative, 10 Oct 2009
By Sean OToole (Derby, United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
At first glance, I assumed the dairy-free detox diet was another poorly written fad diet plan based in faulty pseudoscience. Imagine my surprise when I find that it is a well written and well informed 'diet' book.

Almost three quarters of the book is dedicated to explaining what lactose is, the various intolerances to dairy and lactose and the relationship between dairy and health. There is also plentiful information in this section on explaining which fats are essential, how to still get calcium in your diet without milk and healthy eating. In the beginning there is also a very helpful assessment program which will determine how affected you are personally by possible lactose intolerance.

The recipes themselves are easy to follow and generally rely on soya products a lot less than other books on the subject.

All in all, the dairy free detox plan is definitely one to look out for if you are trying to eliminate dairy from your diet, but even more importantly, it tells you why it is good to do so.
