Many years ago, we were taught to do a critical review of both author and publisher of any title before buying it. This piece of advice was not without good reason as some titles can seriously harm your knowledge base !
The Dail Mail Tax Guide is one of the few exceptions to this advice. Why? In my view, just looking at the title will probably not be very attractive to a professional accountant or tax adviser - when compared with other well established tax annuals out there on the market.
As an accountant, this book is not a beginer's tax guide as it robustly and clearly explains all the fine technical details the average tax payer or tax advisor would need to know. You begin to fully appreciate this title when you start reading it and you begin to see that some of the areas covered (in plain English) are not in some of the 'celebrated' tax annuals out there.
This book is such a treasure. As such, I sometimes feel that the author would have done more justice to the book's even greater popularity if she had told us a little bit more about her technical background (e.g. explaining if she has a tax or accounting background as well).
Without a doubt, I will make this title an (if not the) 'annual-tax-guide- must-buy' in the years to come.

This volume has become an annual purchase as it covers all of the ground in an "easy to understand" way and has completely changed the way I have a useful "reference work" available to me
