4.0 out of 5 stars Good album in parts 23 Dec 2003
Format:Audio CD
I would just like to add my comments regarding this album; I think this album is very good; at least the first six tracks are anyway.
My previous experience of De-Phazz has come from various chill out albums Mambo Craze (Buddha Bar II), Online (Winter Chill 3).
As I like those two tracks I thought I would investigate further. The first album I came across being this one, I heard the album and decided I liked it enough to purchase it so came on here only to find it not being stocked (although this has now changed) and at the time I came across the review above this one.
It didn't put me off as I had heard the album already, what it did do was to me to introduce me to there other albums which I have been disappointed with.
I personally think out of the all of De-Phazz's albums Daily Lama is the best, particular favourite tracks are Looks, You Stayed, What's Behind, Wrong Dance (Nice Flute) & Try ( I love the vocal on this one).
I find a lot with chill out/down tempo albums and I have bought a few recently that I only tend to like maybe half of the tracks and this album is no different, but the tracks that are good are well worth listening to.
I am not saying you will be constantly listening to this album but give it go if you have listened to a lot of identikit chill out albums which there seems to be a number released every week and I am sure you will like a fair few of the twenty tracks contained within.

5.0 out of 5 stars De Phazz or not De Phazz, that is the question 3 Feb 2004
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
This is a great album and a very good De Phazz album. I was hugely impressed with it after being put off buying it for so long by less than favourable reports.
De Phazz gone POP? I don't think so . . . De Phass highly polished and taking themselves a bit more seriously . . . certainly.
It's not as playfull/quirky as 'Godsdog' or 'Death by Chocolate' but the trade mark sound, vocals etc. are there, working seamlessly.
If one did not have the previous albums to compare to, I don't believe there is anything here to fault.
SO . . .
5/5 as a stand alone album
4/5 as an anticipated De Pahzz follow up to Godsdog and Death by Chocolate.
Buy and enjoy this impressive album.

3.0 out of 5 stars De Phazz turns Pop!! 16 April 2003
Format:Audio CD
I would hardly classify De Phazz latest CD as electric jazz. It is very far away from the innovative and sublime Godsdog. In Daily Lama De Phazz seems to be looking more at Pop music and Brazilian rythms than at those electronic rythms and mixes that made them famous. Songs look more conventional that anything else.
As a De Phazz fan I have to say that I like the Album. It is
good, but it is not what I expected (something like Godsdog). So just be aware of it: a good CD but nothing new.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of these things is JUST like the other! 5 Mar 2004
By Daly Mavorneen - Published on Amazon.com

One of these things is JUST like the other!
If you like the retro-vocal melancholy, jazzy, cafeteria-style, insular-yet-panoramic, lush, smoky-lounge, orchestral, strange, ecstatic, DJ-scratchy, sublime, sampled and genre-bending compostions of Art of Noise, The Matthew Herbert Big Band, Enzso, Funki Porcini, Yello, Caleb's Cosmosis, Hugh Marsh, Future Sound of London, United Future Organization or Bowery Electric, then you will love this.
It gets 4/5 because their previous CD, "Death By Chocolate" is slightly better. Start there!
'NUFF SAID.

5.0 out of 5 stars Strange, German r'n'b electronica, well worth a listen 15 Sep 2008
By Carsten Knoch - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
De-Phazz is a revolving cast of singers and performers around German jazz/electronica producer Pit Baumgartner. For more than 10 years, De-Phazz has released an interesting and unique blend of jazz, German cabaret music, electronica, hip hop, reggae/dancehall and r'n'b. Baumgartner changes his lineup between albums, and there are very few singers who stay for more than a record or two. The music is sung mostly in English, but there are songs in German and French, too. Everything has a delightfully old-school, continental European touch: a 40s-style cabaret tune here, a 50s Brazilian-inflected German Schlager there. But there's also some seriously funky, and not-German-at-all soul here: a track like `True North' shows off Baumgartner's production chops - chops that could grace any contemporary `big' r'n'b artist's album. The path he chooses, though, is quirkier than that. And it's a very likable quirkiness, one I find myself returning to time and again. The sound is cultured and aware of the world's musics in a way that British or American electronica isn't. And that makes this first-grade pop music that doesn't become dated.

1.0 out of 5 stars Major Disappointment 15 April 2003
By "jfuller36" - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I'm really not one to write reviews, but I paid 24 usd for this item and it was very weak. The earlier stuff they did was pretty good, some electronic, some lounge, still others dub. This album is run of the mill hotel lounge music(but not a cool hotel, just an generic expensive one). I am a lounge/downtempo/house dj that has worked with this genre for close to ten years. This just didn't do anything for me. The song "Atomic Cocktail" is the only thing that remotely had any interest for me. One out of twenty tracks is not a good cd.
5.0 out of 5 stars De Phazz Daily Lama Delightful!! 26 Jun 2014
By Roger County - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
The CD arrived in perfect condition. The cd itself was flawless. The packaging was immaculate and the book, as well. It is nice to see all of the information as the artist intended it to be packaged in the age of downloading. As for the music. . . .More Pit Baumgartner and gang excellence. De Phazz has a unique voice and their references to jazz standards and solid songwriting are in full effect. Delighted all the way around.
