Product Description

CD Description

Back with that grit; tell the soundman to turn this up. New York emcee Hassaan Mackey (Rawkus 50) slangs words and onomatopoeia, rhymes like he wants to, and backs the whole room into a corner with a raw vision of the streets that pierces ordinary experience and gets at life s marrow. Meanwhile Detroit Producer Apollo Brown (The Reset, Brown Study, Gas Mask, Clouds) lays the sonic foundation with hard drums and big bass, while the crackle of vinyl hums. Gritty and soaked in soul, Daily Bread brings to mind an old photograph that bangs out the system. Each track is heavy with a sense of atonement, haunted by experience, and energized by a cathartic sense of hope. Give us our Daily Bread and forgive us our trespasses.

Long Live Mello Music Group 28 July 2011

Apollo Brown is defintely continuing the musical spirit of the Late Great J Dilla in representing talented producers from The D. He is emerging as on of my favorite producers with his heavy snares and the creative use of samples. I just so happened to stumble on him while looking for music from his fellow Mello Music members Oddisee and Kev Brown. Mackey's delivery style matches the beat selection for most part, pretty well however I did find his lyrics missing some of the power I have heard from him doing freestyles or on other tracks. I was also would like to have seen a few more features like Ken Star who would have destroyed the beat on Megaphone or Higher. But overall I definitely enjoyed this album, happy with my purchase and will most certainly support Mello Music
Fresh breath of air for hip hop 14 Feb 2012
By Jesse W. Giddings - Published on Amazon.com
I consider myself to be a hip hop aficionado and I heard from a friend of mine to check out this album. I can say that this was likely my favorite album of 2011. The production by Apollo Brown was just sick. Hassan came through with the lyrics as well. What I liked so much about the album was that it sounded nothing like anything else that was coming out. Since this album I have purchased Brown Study and the Reset by Apollo Brown and they have both been great albums. He has a distinct sound that no other producers have and he works with new under the radar artists that are hungry and rap about real things, not cars and jewelery. For anyone that truly enjoys hip hop, I can guarantee that you will love this album.
Apollo Brown + Hassaan Mackey = Daily Bread[for Hip Hop] 13 Dec 2011

Firstly, I'm a big Apollo Brown fan. The guy got incredible skills in making good music. Hasssaan, is a dope MC! I was glad when these two collaborated for a full LP.
This album deserves full 5 stars. The beats are hard & banging... The lyrics are on point. Hassaan talks about what a normal person goes through in life, like day-to-day stuff.
My favourite tracks are
1. Something*****
2. Dollar Bill Hill*****
3. Elephants***
4. Weak Won't Do****
5. Trenches ft. Sean Born****
6. Mackey's Lament***
7. Megaphone*****
8. Higher ft. Finale,
9. Like a Diamond ****

As you can see, I love the whole LP :) Support these brothers for giving us good music. Shout out to Mello Music Group for GOOD MUSIC!!! This is one of my 2011 BEST HIP HOP ALBUMS "PERIOD!" BUY IT!
