Light-hearted picture book which encourages children to think about others' points of view.

When a bat moves in to their patch, the little wild animals come to the conclusion that she's a right daft bat - fancy thinking the grass is above and that an umbrella would keep your feet dry, for example. But Owl is wise and shows the other animals the need to look at things from Bat's point of view. At this point the text in the book is inverted and you turn the book over to carry on, so that the reader sees the view from upside-down themselves. This is a lovely touch, which my children think is very funny, and helps the book stand out from the crowd.
There are great pictures too as you'd expect from Tony Ross - clear,friendly and amusing.
This is a lovely story for the 3+s, with humour and a thoughtful message. You'd be daft to miss it.

As a primary school teacher I have read this book to various classes of different ages. Its great fun for reading out loud giving the characters funny voices. The children always find it amusing...but it has a strong message. Take a look at someone else's point of view before making critical comments!
