I have been using USB 2.0 for many years for all my transfers and wanted more speed when loading graphics. I installed a USB 3.0 card into my laptop and have been using a USB 3.0 external hard drive for backups which takes the drudgery out of backups which take an age. I looked around for a USB 3.0 card reader and found that they were quite expensive and then I saw this Daffodil card. The card is quite small and compact with a short cable. I plugged it in to my USB 3.0 port on my laptop and it lit up with a sort of orange glow. When you insert a card into the reader, it glows with a sort of purple haze, which is nice but I am used to blue for USB 3.0 items. I tried to compare the speed of the card reader with a USB 2.0 card reader but this would be pointless as you need some pretty good gear and expertise to do this. My laptop is ancient so the architecture is not powerful enough to utilise USB 3.0 speed upgrade. Despite this, I must say that the read/write speed is greater than with USB 2.0. I was able to save time with my downloads.
Daffodil were extremely kind to allow me to have this card as a result of a query that I had, regarding the accuracy of the description.
Pros:
Small compact size, easy to carry around. Faster than USB 2.0, but I can't say just how much faster. Can use 2 SDs and 2 Micro SDs at the same time. Cards fit into reader slots reassuringly.
Cons:
I would have loved it to light up blue, as that seems to be the colour for USB 3.0.

Great little reader Daffodil, I think I might get another. Good company to deal with, many thanks.

Very small for so many types of cards it can read.
Immediately recognized by Windows-8 64 bits.
Quick transfer in USB3.
A good product.

I found the Daffodil UCR300 Card reader worked really well. It is light weight and I took it away on holiday to download my digital photos onto my Netbook. It did exactly what I wanted.

... it decided that it'd had enough.

Can't really recommend it, and it is now in the bin, having lasted a month or two.

The card reader is very flimsy and never worked too well. Yesterday it corrupted my SD card and I spent the entire evening trying to recover the data. get a simpler model that reads one type of card but does it well instead.
