I find the product itself very accurate, the thing that must be taken into account is that the pedometer will only start to count your steps after seven seconds of movement. So it doesn't pick up steps if you only travel a small distance - say pottering in the kitchen. If you make 6 steps and then stop and then make 6 steps back again they will not be counted. So long as you accept this the accuracy is great. As soon as you travel for more than 7 seconds it immediately adds on the initial 6-10 steps that you made before the 7 second limit was reached so you don't lose those initial steps so long as you travel a minimum of 7 seconds.

The reason for this seven second delay is obvious - there is no accidental counting if you move whilst sitting etc. The delay has actually helped to increase my daily steps as i make sure when moving within a small room to try and achieve at least 7 seconds of movement(approx 7 steps for me)as a minimum for each travel i make to ensure they are counted. If you intend to use this for large walks then this is of no issue at all. If you intend to use it for daily step counting around the house or in a small office etc then so long as you are aware of the 7 seconds it is no issue either.

I have had no problems whatsoever with accidental counting, for example when driving (even with a dozen quite severe speed bumps on my commute). And the device being on a lanyard around my neck has not been an issue either, i wear it under my clothes so it is not obvious at work and if i change clothes i don't have to move it between pockets or waistbands.

The only minor issue with this product is that the battery which is supposedly included was not. However i contacted the company (Daffodil) through Amazon and they posted the correct battery free of charge the same day. Their service was extremely good.

UPDATE: Used this for 6 months now and dropped it several times without damage.
Whichever pocket I keep it in, the count is very consistent -my journey to work is always 1200 steps.

Haven't had to change the batteries and the clock is useful. The best thing of all is that I don't ever have to press any buttons (unless I want to see history), there isn't even an on/off switch as it simply goes to sleep when inactive.

Highly recommended; useful, accurate, reliable and great value. Buy 2 and give one as a gift.

original review:

Yes, the User Guide features text small enough to be written on an ant's borrock.

But once the date/time, pace length and target daily steppage is entered (I suggest 10,000), it looks after itself.

I've found the counting to be accurate when in either trouser ticket pocket or shirt pocket. A belt clip would be nice but the versatility of this particular pedometer means it works however it is carried and does not need to be held on the hip. A lanyard is supplied which has a plastic quick-release clip but I have not tried wearing it around my neck.

Apart from the daily total step count, a bar goes up showing how much of your target you've achieved and the time is displayed. The readout isn't especially big or bold so not suitable for those with poor eyesight perhaps.

The step count is automatically reset at midnight and it is very easy to review your week's progress simply by pressing the MEMO button to flick through your last 7 days' achievements.

The MODE button allows your exertions to be displayed as STEPS, KCALS or MILES. And yes, you can change this to Metric.

Al in all, very good. Much more useful and easier to use than I was expecting.

Recommended. All 5 Stars.

This pedometer works OK and seems to be accurate. It has a neck lanyard but no waist clip. This makes it a bit awkward to wear around the house as it has to be tucked into clothing to stop it dangling into food etc. The different modes are difficult to identify as I need a magnifying glass to read the tiny words on the screen. It is fiddly to set up with your weight and step length - fortunately I am average enough that I can manage with the preset values. The manual can just about be read without a magnifying glass.
Be warned that it resets to 0 at midnight, but it stores the previous day's readings in its memory.
Overall - fiddly, no waist clip, but it does the job and is good value for the price.

This is such a good idea. It is not always 100% accurate, but it is easy to use and does give you an idea of how much exercise you are doing in a day. But beware! The recommended amount of steps is 10000 per day. The most I have managed is 8000!

It is very accurate and doesn't put steps on when it is shaken or you are just standing up etc like other pedometers do. It is good value and easy to use. The ribbon that goes round your neck it also a nice colour.

I didn't want to spend a lot on a pedometer but I go walking regularly and it's good to know how far you've gone and, more importantly, how many calories burned!!! This is nice and small and fits easily in your pocket or round your neck. You can change a number of things on it to make it more personalised, including the length of your steps. Would definitely recommend this.
