OK, so I only got this DVD a couple of days ago but I've tested it to see if it does what it says it does... and it does plus more. Performance:- Good screen that shows in wide screen and normal, the picture is crisp and clear but the sound is a touch tinny when through the speakers but excellent when through the headphones. Functions:- Superior to all other portables I looked at. USB socket for plugging in your digital camera to show your holiday pics to your pals, plug in a memory pen drive loaded with photos or music and away you go. I thought of buying an SD card for that function (it has a SD card reader as well) but no need now. Playing through you TV couldn't be simpler. If your TV has Video & Audio IN then you're all set. Just works like a normal DVD with remote, functions, subtitles etc..etc... Sound quality is as per the TV speakers. You can also manually switch off the screen (at any time) to conserve battery life. Battery charging is easy as well. Either plug in adaptor direct into battery or plug battery into DVD and charge through same adaptor plugged direct into DVD player so you can charge and watch at the same time. In brief, and excellent machine that looks good and would equally be ideal for going on holiday and using as a portable or normal DVD, or using at home as a regular DVD player. Definately recommend this.

I agree 100% with 'Tucker' (Scotland) this is a great little unit for the money indeed and can only add that the only 2 negative poins are the fact that the volume cannot be operated with the remote control and a 'bookmark' facility is not available. It can be frustrating trying to find which part of a DVD the user is up to when you first power up and a tiny lithium battery to 'remember' at which point the player was at when it was last switched off would have been a great bonus!
As for Victorian Lady "G" saying the battery pack is big and heavy and the unit will only operate when it's it attatched! Well both statements are nonsense! The battery pack attatches neatly to the rear of the DVD player which can also be powered directly from the mains adaptor. Read the instructions, because giving out false infomation like this could make folk miss out IMO on a great value portable DVD player!

Excellent bit of kit 28 Jun 2007

Amazon Verified Purchase
I got this yesterday and got to grips with it immediately. It's small neat and well designed. Picture quality is excellent. Sound quality is reasonably good for such small speakers. I've bought it to keep the kids happy in the car so they'll have earphones in anyway. A point here. It would be nice if two headphone out jacks could have been fitted. I know some models do have this feature. I've bought a jack splitter to solve this problem anyway. One other niggle is the carrying case. It is designed very cleverly to attach to the front seat headrest. However as a carrying and storage case it falls down due to a complete lack of any protective padding. I've placed a piece of expanded foam into the lid to improve protection. On the whole this is a very neat little DVD player. It does what it says on the box and I'm very impressed with it.
