By hook or by crook I'll be the first to review this masterpiece of crunk-rock. This is the first album in a year by the plucky E17 rockers and eschews the fizzy glam of their previous platter Disappear Here for a more chunky harder sound. A little like a cross between Iron Maiden & The Krankees. James Broad has produced something that can only be described as 'his own album' and by golly you are going to love it. If you are a fan of summery indie pop then please blow your own head off. If you like music that sounds like music then knock yourself out and pick up this mutha. Bye.

Back with their fourth studio album, Silver Sun strike gold. Brimful of trademark harmonies, soaring guitars and a bag full of ace tunes, this is the album they've been threatening to make for years. Following on from last Year's "Disappear Here", "Dad's Weird Dream does not disappoint. Think Beach Boys harmonies delivered at the pace of the Ramones with the pithy wit of Weezer's lyrics and you're on the right track. Stand out tunes are........well, they're all damn good if you ask me. Not a duff one among them. (with the exception of the instrumental title track)

Treat yourself - you'll find you're irritatingly humming the tunes on the way to work, in the shower or on the bus - it's THAT good!

FACTS OF LIFE 3 Nov 2006
Format:Audio CD
A decade on and Silver Sun have completed the fantastic 4. New album Dad's Weird Dream is in my opinion, the icing on the cake with huge dollops of buttercream and chocolate sprinkles. If you're a fan of SS then you won't be reading this review - right now you'll be playing air guitar to the album in a wolf mask and your dad's speedo's. Actually that's probably just me. But moving on, Facts of Life is the best SS song you'll ever hear. And See Me In My Dreams is an extremely close second. Poppin, Hi Scorpia, Sweet Lucy... where do I start? Fuzzy guitars, a million harmonies, big catchy feelgood choruses - James Broad writes perfect power pop. His name should be trademarked and be a currency in Africa. Why he hasn't earned every accolade the music industry has to offer is beyond me. How many songwriters deliver EVERY time? Buy this album and you'll know what I'm talking about. Who do they sound like? Well they've got their own distinctive sound but if pushed I'd say SS are like a heavy Electric Light Orchestra minus the orchestra! But maybe that's coming... Dad's Weird Dream is stuff music dreams are made of - FACT OF LIFE!
