The video clips presented here are a significant upgrade on those previously available in BirdGuides DVD-ROM Guide to All the Birds of Europe. BWPi not only has more videos of more species, but the quality of reproduction has in many cases been improved by taking advantage of the latest technology. Videos represent the next-best-thing to actually seeing the bird in the wild and BWPi will allow you to 'watch' over 650 species. There are over 2000 clips on the DVD with a combined running time of 10 hours!
You can expand any video clip to the size of your choice, watch them again and again and view the footage frame-by-frame to study details of plumage or behaviour. Multiple videos can be played simultaneously side-by-side.
The ULTIMATE sound collection
The sound recordings gathered on BWPi provide an even more complete collection of bird sounds, covering over 580 species. There are also some extra species in which the video clip includes the sound of the bird singing or calling; this brings the total number of species with sounds to over 600.

This amazing DVD represents over £1100 - worth of large books, packed full of information about all the birds of the western world. At around a tenth of the cost of all the books (which we have anyway) the DVD adds video footage and sound files of each bird, in its juvenile, adult, male, female and breeding plumage forms. A huge bonus. Plus we have loaded it on to our smallest laptop for use in the field. Could not recommend it more to the serious birder, or as a present for one!

A fantastic resource. Much cheaper and requires far less space then the number of books this represents. All the text is there. Great photos and vidoes are excellent and if a picture is worth a 1000 words of description a video must be at least a 100,000 words as it conveys behaviour, movements etc.
The ability to compare species side by side and the menu's make sense. The classifications make browsing a little fiddly at times but that is a minor gripe. If you consider yourself a birdwatcher you will not be disappointed in this as it will answer almost every concievable question and if it doesn't the answer is probably not know! Also great aid to identification. Excellent.
