There are very few phones out there designed for the elderly or handicapped but this is the best in my opinion. I bought this for my 77 year old mother since the phone she has is hopeless - small keys, small text etc.
Only gave it 4 stars because it's so expensive when phones with similar capabilities only cost a tenner. Saying that, this is an excellent phone - it's certainly the best designed, easiest to use phone I've ever used. I wouldn't mind keeping it myself! especially since I've seen no one else with one.
You can usually tell intuitive good design when you don't have to refer to the manual to find out how something works. Although it's made of plastic this feels like an high quality product with a velvet like touch. The keys are large, illuminated with large text, separated and have a positive action. The screen is bright and clear and the sound is loud. I let a child of 4 use this to see if they could master it and it only took them a few minutes. The menu is simplicity itself and the whole design reminds me of something the likes of Apple would produce. I would like to have seen the user's number appear on the intro screen but that is only a small criticism. Also I think they should have included the optional stand free since the price is so high. There is a special emergency button on the back that can be used to call/text a friend/relative.
Hopefully this will wake up the competition to produce similar phones - after all we are an aging population and not all 8 year olds!
If you can afford it or afford to buy it for an elderly relative you won't buy better.
