I bought this book along with The Rough Guide to Thailand to complement the Rough Guide as there are not many photos in the latter. The Eyewitness guide is very colourful with beautiful photography but I have hardly picked it up for detailed information finding the Rough Guide very comprehensive and detailed which is much more what I needed. I would say it is OK if you are going on an organised trip to Thailand but for independent travellers, I would recommend the Rough Guide.

If you are looking for a Thailand travel book, this is it. The many beautiful pictures and the well written articles on every aspect of Thai culture are invaluable for the traveller or the person who simply dreams of exotic locales. Definitely a must purchase!

We have found this guide book to be very helpful and informative when planning a trip to Thailand, I especially like the emphasis on the visual - which sets it apart from other guides. Lots of information about Bangkok and the cultural and historic sites of the north. If you're planning to travel extensively around the islands of the south I would recommend supplementing this guide with a more in-depth guide to Thailand's islands and beaches. We also bought the Rough Guide which we found more helpful for local details and travel advice, but less interesting to look at. We bought a 'snap-map' of Bangkok too.
