DK guides are impressive at first glance notably for the high picture content and inclusion of useful illustrated maps and guides. On occasions they've been picked up for inaccurate or outdated information, but there was little by way of errors we could pick out of the Croatian guide. Restaurant recommendations seemed pretty good.
If I had any criticism, it would be that several excellent places in Istria were entirely omitted, for no obvious reason. For example, the stunningly beautiful hill town of Groznjan, also home to many art galleries and a music festival, is accorded a brief entry that fails to do it justice, while other lovely hill towns fail to warrant a single mention.

Having traveled all over Croatia I find that this book gives a good coverage
of all areas of this beautiful country.
I can't help but wonder if some of the other reviewers only went to
one island and were subsequently annoyed when the book didn't cover
it in detail, which is obviously too much too ask for a book of this sort.

As the title suggests, it looks nice but this book actually lacks substance. It lists plenty of churchs to see but little else - I like to really know what we are going to visit before a trip but this left me looking for another guide.

Has anyone told DK about the concept of the internet?
If you are going to buy this book, be prepared to do a lot of your research on the internet which defeats the point of buying the book. Read more
