The Guitar Hero universe is about to expand, not just with a new band or instrument - but with a whole new style of music. Never mind air guitar, now you can pretend to be a superstar DJ from the comfort of your own home thanks to the new turntable controller bundled with the game.
Based in Leamington Spa, this British studio is made up of a number of ex Rare and Codemasters staff. Their first game was break-dancing sim B-Boy and after working on some EyeToy games for Sony they were bought by Activision to localise Guitar Hero content and create the new DJ Hero.

The gameplay is still similar to Guitar Hero, as notes travel around the on-screen turntable and you have to hold down the three "stream" buttons on the controller at the right time to keep the mix going. For advanced players there's also an effects dial, crossfader and the score boosting "Euphoria" button.

Fun:
The game features an innovative new method of control and a great soundtrack. The level of challenge is about right, and caters for a surprisingly wide variety of musical tastes. Possibly not worth getting the premium bundle if you are on a budget, but if you have a few pounds spare the case is very good quality and worth having.
Fun:
I already had the standard DJ Hero 2 pack with the normal Turntable controller and the DJ Hero 1 and 2 games. So I was familiar with the game and already really liked it. The mixes on DJ hero 1 and 2 are awesome and really great to play along with in the game. I decided to buy this Renegade edition as I wanted a second Turntable controller for two player. What a difference the Renegade edition is!! I love it!! The turntable finish is excellent - black gloss (what I would call piano finish), gold detail and a metal cross fader and distort knob. It's a pleasure to play on and the renegade case that doubles as a stand is a great idea - as you no longer need the deck on your lap you can stand or sit with the turntable controller on the stand. If you are a big fan of the game get this premium pack - its more money but if you will use it then it's worth it. It's also very handy if you want to take your deck round to a friends house to play two player as everything fits into the high quality case and with its metal handle you are good to go :)
