Don`t be fooled into buying just a cable like this, found out the hard way (luckily didn't pay much for cable).HDMI is a digital signal and VGA is an analogue signal so is very unlikely to work connecting Raspberry Pi to VGA monitor.
You need a `Converting` (HDMI Input To VGA Adapter Converter)adaptor and a few boot txt tweaks to get that working.

I messed up and didn't look at all the reviews. I saw the first few saying that it didn't work for a raspberry Pi, but I wanted it for a laptop VGA to TV HDMI, so ignored the rest. Needless to say it didn't work, so I only give it one star.

It might come in handy for an emergency washing line, hamster tightrope, Christmas card hanger, bondage device, lashing a tepee together or a Bear Grylls fishing line, so there might be a silver lining yet!

As we are all leaving reviews along the same lines, I can safely assume that we all innocently fell for this ridiculously simple con.
I went into this purchase fully with the knowledge that VGA and HDMI use completely different signals to transmit data, but with the optimistic thought that perhaps the device needed to change one signal to the other was somewhere between the HDMI plug and the VGA plug. But alas, nothing but 1.8 meters of useless wire.
No wonder the seller was so quick to send out a "replacement" with the instruction to just throw the "faulty" one away.
All I want to know is why does Amazon endorse this seller?

When I had received the Digiflex HDMI cable I was eager to get it setup in my room through my ps3 console and monitor however the cable did not work, I tried it on other monitors as well as laptops but no luck was very disappointed.

It's not enough to put a wire ( this wire) between the two ports.
The signals aren't compatible or something.

Don't be a mug! There is very little chance this cable will work for you, so don't buy it. How can an inert cable with no electronics convert a digital HDMI signal into an analogue VGA signal, or vice versa... How can it "provide up to 1080 resolution" yet only "transmit video signals up to 1024 x 768 resolution"? It's mumbo-jumbo nonsense.

i connected it from vga out to hdmi in and no signal detected. so i thought perhaps its like scarts where some only work one way so i went from hdmi out to vga in and you guessed it. it did nothing i would like the seller to say exactly what this cable is meant for as it has nothing to do with vga to hdmi
will never buy from digiflex again
