If I had reviewed this sharpener just after buying it I would have given it rave reviews, it was very effective, but after a couple of months use it seems less so, I'm not sure if the abrasive coating has worn down but it definitely doesn't do as good a job as when I first used it, Shame.

I was very interested to see how this product performed, This is the first diamond steel I have owned and I was unsure about how a cheaper one would hold up.
I have been very pleasantly surprised! Whereas my old steel barely seemed to make any difference on my knives this one has instantly restored them to being almost 'good-as-new'. The steel is easily long enough to sharpen even my big chef's knives (though this means it doesn't fit in my cutlery draw, it does also have a ring to hang it up), it feels very solid and professional and ha done a wonderful job. Though I haven't owned it for long I can't see any wear yet so I'm hoping it will last a while.
One note is that as the surface is very abrasive you have to be careful not to accidentally graze the surface of your knives otherwise they will get scratched.
Overall very impressed with the product, especially considering it's cheapness compared to other branded diamond steels.

For the first time in 60 years have bought some decent kitchen knives which say sharpen regularly. Seeing the reviews for this sharpening steel I thought I'd have a go. It's brilliant! I had no trouble sharpening a little knife which has been used for everything but cutting and it is now a really good sharp paring knife. Great product, well recommended.

A kitchen must-have
A really excellent sharpener - turns dull knives into razors in a few strokes. Use a ceramic "steel" to finish off for an even keener edge.
