...... and finally the DFC has arrived to answer the prayers of despairing parents everywhere. I had long bemoaned the death of proper comics in favour of photoshopped monstrosities with plastic tat on the cover and recycled contents. When the DFC was announced I bought two pre-launch subscriptions for my 7 year old twin boys in the hope that they would be finally able to enjoy their own comics like I used to as a kid.

And the DFC has delivered - in spades. Proper artwork, quality stories, no filler, no adverts, no plastic tat, non-patronising, non-pandering - equally suitable for both boys and girls, and all ages (up to adult even). In many respects what they've managed to produce is a minor miracle.

And the result - my boys arrive home from school on a Friday afternoon, tear open the distinctive red and yellow striped envelope, and they are just gone for an hour or more. And then they re-read it several times throughout the next week. My children have always been keen readers, but this has just added to that (and I'm pretty sure it would make keen readers of most kids and engender reading habits that will benefit them for life).

Thank you DFC - long may you prosper.

The DFC dropped through the letterbox on Friday morning in a bright red and yellow envelope. By Friday evening it had been devoured in one gulp. The DFC: charming, serially inventive, surprising, and purely remarkable.

There has not been a purely story-driven weekly comic on the market for kids for far too long, and with only original work and no advertising whatsoever, The DFC is an absolute joy. Long continuing stories, short 3 panel strips - it does seem like there's something for everyone in here, and kids of all ages will absolutely adore this. The art is so fantastically varied too. Buy this and see for yourself!

Highly recommended.

My youngest boy was not interested in reading until we got The DFC. Now every week he fights with his brother to be the first to read The DFC. Its a delight to see both boys (10 and 8) steal away with The DFC and sit in a quiet corner and devour the comic page by page. My youngest bemoaned the fact on Friday that one of his favourite comic strips had its last episode (Lazorus Lemming) and we've never heard him be so passionate before.

The DFC is a bit pricey but it is really worth it. Dad's will enjot it to. Some of the artwork is simply amazing. My parents generation always looked down a bit on comics but I always loved Tin Tin and those World War 2 strips you could by in WH Smiths! I think The DFC continues in these traditions but as its varied both in style and content week from week you and your children will not get bored with it at all.

I can't recommend The DFC highly enough.

Before me and my partner found the DFC, I wouldn't allow any of my four children read comic books. Too much violence and advertising, especially from the likes of Batman and Superman.
But now my children's lives are full of fun in the form of fish head steve, monkey nuts and the cats in the rock band. It's great to see them reading something wholesome, and they've already started writing and drawing their own little comics which they then photocopy and pass out to their friends.
I would highly recommend this subscription to every parent and every child. Thank you DFC!
