5.0 out of 5 stars Great timer No Batteries!, 8 Sep 2010
By
This review is from: [DEFAULT] Smiths 24HR PLUG IN TIMER (Kitchen & Home)
This is a great 24hr timer, no more worry about replacing batteries! Made by a reputable timer company(Smiths)and very reliable, although obviously is not going to be as accurate as a digital timer, can still be set within 10 minutes accuracy, and will keep the set time every day, without much deviation over many months. I have a 24hr one and a 7 day one, and have been using them for a long time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does the job!, 15 Aug 2007
This review is from: [DEFAULT] Smiths 24HR PLUG IN TIMER (Kitchen & Home)
Not particularly cheap, hence the loss of a star. However, it does the job easily and well and is useful if you don't have the space to fit a conventional timer switch.

3.0 out of 5 stars Perfectly good unit - but not made by Smiths, 5 Jun 2011

Mr. A. J. Gadd "Wooster" (Surrey - UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: [DEFAULT] Smiths 24HR PLUG IN TIMER (Kitchen & Home)
I had a Smiths mechanical timer operating every day for the past 20 years. Finally it died. Found several mechanical timers on Amazon which all looked remarkably similar. One unit said it was made by Smiths, so I bought it. But it is NOT made by Smiths.

I contacted the seller who told me 'Smiths' was a generic term - like Hoover. I disagreed - pointing out that if he was selling a Samsung vacuum cleaner, you wouldn't have the word 'Hoover' in your advert. (The timer is made by 'Timeguard')

The seller offered a refund, but I couldn't be bothered to send it back. It does work perfectly. It is easy to program. It should last for years. But it isn't made by Smiths.
