Bereavement,
By
This review is from: DEAR GRANDMA BUNNY (Hardcover)
My husband died suddenly and unexpectedly at the beginning of this year and this book really helped my 3 year old to understand that he would never see his daddy again. We cried together. Some people may feel it is quite brutal, but it explains simply what happens and the processes of death. My son actually began to ask for it to be read to him although it made him sad and I think this was part of his grieving process for his daddy.Highly recommended. The best bereavement book I've come across for young children.

Perfect for children at a difficult time.,

This review is from: DEAR GRANDMA BUNNY (Hardcover)
I came across this book today in a charity shop and it was particularly appropriate for our family at this time, as my Grandma died 10 days ago (from posting this). My 3 children aged 9, 8 and 5, are all pretty okay with her passing as she was in a lot of pain and is now free from pain and as far as they're concerned that seems fairly black and white. However this book was very helpful in talking with them about their emotions and adults' emotions as well as the practical descriptions of the coffin and gravestone. I had a lump in my throat as I read the part where Miffy's dad pays tribute to grandma bunny, and we all talked about and the children loved the idea of coming back to tend to the flowers planted by the grave. The right book for the right time for me personally and one I wouldn't hesitate to pass on to another parent whose children have just had a bereavement in the family.
