The embodiment of strong female characters: WW Bombshells 25 Jan 2014
By Adam B. - Published on Amazon.com
Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
As somebody who doesn't collect statues but loves comics and strong female characters, Wonder Woman is among my favorites. Since I love the pinup era of art and the style behind it, this statue was a no-brainer and was initially the only of this line that I wanted.

The sculpt is excellent, and even slightly improved on the original art by Ant Lucia because it allows the face to be more subtle. The paint was mostly great on mine but has been hit or miss within this series (more on this later).

However, what sold me on this line is the perfect fusion of classic characters with strong pinup imagery. This statue echoes Rosie the Riveter with its pose and Diana has seldom looked so iconic.

This sculpture has WW's signature red/white boots along with her starred blue bottoms (wisely changed to shorts here) and her red and gold top (again wisely changed to a button-up shirt). Her hair is full of motion and sculpted in a fusion of classic pinup and modern WW style, but perhaps the coolest touch is the intricate bracelets and the tiara, which is now a bandana. Her golden lasso hangs on her waist like tool from which the women in the 40s would have had when they took men's place in the factories during wartime. Finally, some people don't like her legs or rear sculpt, but I appreciate the proportions. This one is less a sexy pinup and more of an empowering one, and changing this would have compromised these qualities.

Enough about the style choices though. As I mentioned, the paint can be less than stellar...I exchanged my first one for broken chains (looks like one got stuck into the styrofoam during shipping) and a poorly painted face (her eye paint had been erratic, making her look battered and therefore, a poor representation of women empowerment). My new one had similar paint, but was slightly cleaner (and something a little alcohol on a q-tip actually improved upon. Only under the flash of a zoomed camera can any flaws be seen at all).

Finally, this is fragile, with its common break points being the chains (avoid applying pressure to these or they will snap) and the nameplate (ensure this didn't break during shipping). Any fan of Wonder Woman and strong females will appreciate this limited (numbered) piece of comic-inspired art.

My husband bought me this beauty for Christmas, and she is perfect. So, so glad she shipped safely, because she is everything I hoped for!

The style of this statue does justice to the time period from which it was taken. Wonder Women in pin-up attire is very smart. The statue came in a colorful box and the packaging was perfect as was the statue.
Be careful! 7 Jan 2014

The statue is awesome. I got it for my wife for Christmas and she loves it. She already has Poison Ivy and she is already planning on getting Harley Quinn. The one thing you have to do is be very careful. The chains that she has in her hands are very fragile.

Was broken in package. Also would not fit on base. Seemed as if it may have been used when it was suppose to be new
